Hortus Botanicus is een van de oudste botanische tuinen ter wereld, opgericht in 1638 als Hortus Medicus. De huurbare ruimtes omvatten de Orangerie (gebouwd in 1875) en het Palmenhuis (uit de jaren 1910, in expressionistische Amsterdamse School-stijl), die beide direct uitkomen op de tuin. De Hortus is al lang een keuze voor bruiloften en privediners die een groene, lichte setting in centraal Amsterdam zoeken.

Hoe de ruimte klinkt

The Orangery (masonry and glass) and the Palm House (glass and steel) are reflective, reverberant spaces that flatter unamplified strings, harp, classical guitar and vocal ensembles. Ceremony music and acoustic-led dinner sets are the natural fit. Heavy low-end and large amplified setups are not ideal in these spaces, both for acoustic reasons and because of the plant and glass-structure context.

Welke acts passen in deze ruimte

String quartet for ceremony, classical guitar or harp for cocktails, acoustic jazz duo or trio for dinner, the venue rewards refined, unamplified or lightly amplified music. For dancing after dinner, a small acoustic-leaning band with sensitive PA is the right call.
