About this venue

Westergasfabriek is one of Amsterdam's most-booked event campuses, a former Imperial Continental Gas Association complex in the Westerpark, redeveloped into a cultural and event site. It's a national monument and runs a year-round programme of weddings, corporate galas, concerts and festivals across multiple halls. Lupa has performed in the Gashouder and across Westergasfabriek for corporate galas and weddings.

How the room sounds

The Gashouder is the headline space, a circular, pillarless former gasholder with a domed iron roof. Volumes that large with hard surfaces produce a long natural reverb, which means amplified live music needs a carefully designed PA. The room rewards bands that play with restraint and a sound engineer who tunes the system to the space. The Transformatorhuis (also branded De Wester) and Machinegebouw are smaller industrial halls that handle full-band PA more readily.

Which acts fit this room

For the Gashouder, full party bands and DJ-led productions are the standard fit, the visual scale matches a band with a brass section or a high-energy production. The Transformatorhuis and Machinegebouw suit five-to-seven-piece bands and party-band setups well. For quieter receptions in smaller spaces on the site, a jazz trio works.
