About this venue
Thuishaven is one of Amsterdam's most distinctive event sites, a festival ground on Port of Amsterdam land in the Houthavens, with capacity from around 150 up to 3,000. The site is well known as an ADE host and as a host for large private parties and corporate events. Lupa has performed at Thuishaven for high-energy parties and amplified live sets.
How the room sounds
Tented and hangar structures with high ceilings and partly permeable walls behave very differently from hard-walled buildings, sound dissipates outward rather than reverberating long. That's why the site works so well for amplified electronic music, party bands and DJ-led productions: the PA is doing the work rather than the room. Quiet unamplified ensembles are not the natural fit here.
