Which corporate DJ fits which company event

For a corporate event the choice starts with the format and the audience, not the genre. Below the acts we put on most company nights across the country, with what each one is right for.

Every booking includes a full sound system for your guest count and a basic dance-floor light show. For a launch in a raw space, a crowd above 250 or an outdoor activation we upgrade the production and list it as a separate line. Where a DJ fits into a business event programme

A business event runs on a schedule, and music is a block inside it rather than a separate booking that starts at eight. That is the difference most event managers only notice on the day. Here is what a DJ does in each block of the programme, and how loud he plays there.

The blocks people underestimate are the small ones. The walk-out under the host, the twenty seconds under a product reveal, the moment a panel ends and the room falls silent: a DJ holding the run of show catches those gaps. A DJ who arrives for the drinks does not, and then your AV supplier covers it with a playlist and a fade that lands slightly late.

In practice that means one thing. The DJ belongs in the technical briefing, not only in the party half. We put the DJ and your AV supplier together well before the day, agree whose desk feeds the room and who holds the volume during speeches, and put the cue list next to the run of show. A business event and a company party need different DJs

The two get used interchangeably, but they are different evenings and they do not want the same DJ.

What that means for who you book: at a business event the most common mistake is a DJ who goes loud too early. External guests who came for a conversation leave the moment talking takes effort, and you only see that departure in the evaluation. At a company party the mistake runs the other way, too polite for too long, so the floor never starts. We brief hard on this. For a business event we fix the moment the DJ is allowed to build and not a minute earlier, and which point in the run of show is that cue, usually the end of the speeches or the first group of guests leaving.

What a nationwide corporate DJ actually delivers

The gap between a club or wedding DJ and a true corporate DJ shows up in three places, and none of them is the playlist:

• Reading a working crowd. A corporate room is colder than a wedding. Nobody is there for the music, half of them came for the speeches and would leave at 22:30 if the floor felt forced. Our DJs learned to turn that room by playing corporate nights for Microsoft, IBM, ING and Booking.com.
• Sitting under the programme. A corporate DJ has to hold dinner and the speeches at a level where someone at the lectern is heard clearly, then move the energy up the second the programme ends, without an awkward silence in between.

Prices for a DJ at a business event or company party

A corporate event DJ starts at EUR 850 for a pure DJ set with sound and basic lighting. A DJ with full event production, meaning a larger PA, a dance-floor lighting rig and DMX control, starts at EUR 1,500. A hybrid act, a DJ with a live saxophone or trumpet, sits between those depending on the lineup, and is the option most corporate clients choose for a client-facing night. Every quote is itemised, including transport, BumaStemra copyright, 9 percent VAT on the artistic performance and 21 percent VAT on technical services, with no hidden agency margin, so your finance team can read it line by line.

If you only book the networking drinks after the programme, you pay the same starting fee as for a longer night, because the load-in, the travel and the soundcheck are identical. The company party is where a corporate DJ earns the booking. The setup we put on most is a single act that covers both halves of the night: a quiet, premium dinner set under the speeches, then a dance floor once the formal part is done. What separates a professional DJ for a business event

At this kind of event, professional means something other than taste in music. Whoever signs the purchase order is buying down risk, and wants to know what happens if something goes wrong. This is what we put on paper before you sign:

• The DJ is named in the contract, with the name of a deputy from the same roster next to it. If someone drops out, that deputy arrives with the same briefing, not a stranger from a marketplace.
• We bring our own sound, sized to your room, and play inside the venue's decibel limit. Conference centres and hotels with bedrooms above the room have a hard ceiling. We get it from the venue in advance rather than discovering it on the night.
• The technical rider goes to your AV supplier as soon as the date is fixed, not the week before.
• You get a business invoice with VAT itemised, against a PO number or cost centre if your finance team needs one, with travel, Buma Stemra and technical services as separate lines.
• One contact person. The person who wrote your quote is reachable on the night, usually Noam himself.

Common mistakes when booking a corporate DJ

• Treating it like a wedding DJ booking. A corporate room needs a DJ who can read a colder, working crowd, not just play hits.
• No brief from the events team. A DJ without the running order, the speech timings and the brand tone plays generic, and a generic corporate party empties early.
• Forgetting the AV handover. If the DJ and your AV supplier have not spoken before the day, the music drops out during the changeover from the formal programme. We close that gap in advance.
