Jazz Trio Amsterdam
Jazz · Amsterdam & Netherlands

Book a jazz trio or jazz ensemble for your Amsterdam event, weddings, dinners and private parties.

A jazz trio does something few other acts can: it makes a room feel curated. The moment the first note lands, guests understand they're at a well-considered event. Not muzak, not background noise you forget in ten minutes, but music with enough interest to make people listen while still allowing conversation. On this page we show which jazz trios we book most often since 2018 for Amsterdam weddings, corporate receptions and intimate events, which kind of jazz fits which moment, and which traps to avoid when booking a jazz act for a Dutch setting.

Lupa Entertainment has been a boutique agency in Amsterdam since 2018, founded by Noam Bargil. Our jazz acts have toured Europe, played major festivals, performed at Concertgebouw, BIMHUIS, Rijksmuseum, plus international residencies (Dupa Trio annually in the Maldives). 300+ events for Heineken, Microsoft, Salesforce, IBM, Booking.com.

Each act includes acoustic setup, basic PA, and experience with acoustically restricted spaces (churches, canal houses, museums). For venues under 85dB cap (De Duif, Museum Van Loon) a trio or duo is the right scale.

Which jazz fits which moment

  • Ceremony (15-45 min): Laura Dooge or Peter Smith (acoustic jazz duo). Strict-quiet rooms.
  • Cocktail/walking dinner (60-120 min): Dupa Trio (trumpet carries melody without overwhelming). Best at Hotel de l'Europe, Pulitzer, Conservatorium Hotel.
  • Dinner with speeches (90-180 min): Same trio continuing at strictly under-conversation volume. Bandleader stops under each speech.
  • Reception without dance floor (90-180 min): Misstery Trio (vocal harmony).
  • Home concert / 50th birthday (60-90 min): Laura Dooge with piano. One vocalist, intimate.

What sets a professional Dutch jazz trio apart

  • Repertoire breadth: standards (Cole Porter, Jobim, Sinatra) through French Songbook (Brel, Aznavour) to modern pop in jazz arrangement
  • Classically trained musicians from Conservatorium van Amsterdam, not marketplace pool
  • Acoustic setup without full PA, less setup time and visual clutter
  • Volume discipline, bandleader feels when conversation wants to rise over the music
  • Custom songs in jazz arrangement, 6-week lead time

Common mistakes

  • Choosing a 6-piece party band for a ceremony, wrong scale
  • Confusing background muzak with good jazz
  • No specific briefing, band defaults to standards
  • Volume set too high for dinner, ask explicitly

Pricing

from €1,400

A jazz trio in Amsterdam starts at EUR 1,400 and an acoustic duo at EUR 900, the accessible end of our range because the lineup is small and the production minimal. The final number depends on the act, the set length, production needs and the date.

For jazz-trio sets booked as part of a larger evening programme (cocktail hour into a party band, for example), we quote the whole night as a package. Send us your event details and we come back within one business day.
