Live jazz bands and trios for weddings, dinners and corporate events across the Netherlands.
A jazz band is the most flexible booking in live music, which is exactly why it gets booked wrong. The same trio that plays a wedding ceremony at conversation level can headline a late corporate floor, but only when the format matches the moment. Across the Netherlands we book jazz far more for arrival drinks, seated dinners, ceremonies and cocktail hours than for a dance floor, because jazz earns its place when the room still wants to talk and the music has to lift the mood without taking it over. This page covers which jazz acts we send nationwide, how a trio differs from a full swing band, what jazz actually costs, and the rooms we work in from Amsterdam to Maastricht.
Lupa Entertainment is a boutique music agency in Amsterdam, founded in 2018 by Noam Bargil, working bandleader of Benga Band. Fixed roster of 14 acts we have personally seen and coached, over 300 events since 2018 for clients including Heineken, Microsoft, Salesforce, IBM, Booking.com, ING and Tommy Hilfiger. Our jazz acts travel the whole country, one coordinator runs your booking from first email to load-out, and you get one invoice instead of a stack of supplier contracts.
How it works
What a jazz band actually does at an event
Most jazz bookings are not about a dance floor at all. The job is to set a tone while people arrive, talk, eat and toast, and to do it at a volume that lets a table of ten hold a conversation without raising a voice. That is a real skill, and it is the opposite of what a party band trains for. A good jazz act reads the room minute by minute: a soft bossa nova bed during the first drinks, a lift between dinner courses, a warmer swing set as the wine lands. Across the Netherlands the events that book jazz best are weddings, gala receptions, corporate dinners, museum openings and brand launches where the music is the texture of the evening rather than its main event.

| Seated dinner | Jazz trio (Dupa Trio) | EUR 1,400 |

The jazz acts we book most across the Netherlands
Our core jazz booking nationwide is Dupa Trio, four touring musicians playing trumpet, guitar, bass and vocals through standards, bossa nova and contemporary jazz. They sit perfectly under a dinner and step up between courses, which is why they are our most-requested dinner act. For a wedding ceremony or a refined cocktail hour we book Laura Dooge, a jazz vocalist trained cum laude at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam who has sung at the Concertgebouw and BIMHUIS. When the brief is a vintage swing band with full stage presence, Velvet Jazz reworks modern pop hits into 1940s and 1950s arrangements with costumes and vintage microphones. Misstery Trio brings three-part vocal harmonies across jazz, soul and pop for a cocktail hour. To carry the late floor we add Savoy, our roster DJ, who bridges soul, swing and Motown into modern dance for a crowd that spans generations.
Jazz band, trio or quartet: which size fits
The word band hides a real decision. A soloist or a vocalist with one accompanist is right for a ceremony or a quiet arrival and starts at EUR 600. A jazz trio is the workhorse for dinners and cocktail hours and starts at EUR 1,400, with the room to grow into a quartet by adding a musician at EUR 500. A full jazz band of four pieces and up starts at EUR 3,000 with sound and light included, and that is the choice when you want a swing band as a visible centrepiece rather than a backdrop. Most clients who ask for a jazz band actually want a trio, and we will tell you so rather than upsell you a six-piece you do not need.
Nationwide: where we play and how travel works
We are an Amsterdam agency but our jazz acts produce events across the country every month. We regularly play De Doelen and Hotel New York in Rotterdam, TivoliVredenburg and Kasteel de Haar around Utrecht, the Kurhaus in Scheveningen, and the formal Amsterdam rooms at the Rijksmuseum, Hotel de l'Europe, the Conservatorium Hotel and the Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. Travel inside roughly 50km of Amsterdam carries no fee. Further afield, to Eindhoven, Maastricht or Groningen, we itemise a transparent travel line in the quote rather than hiding it in the act fee. For a city-level booking in the capital see our jazz trio Amsterdam page.
Prices for a jazz band in the Netherlands
A jazz vocalist or soloist for a ceremony starts at EUR 600. A jazz trio for a dinner or cocktail hour starts at EUR 1,400, and each extra musician to build a quartet adds EUR 500. A full jazz or swing band of four pieces and up starts at EUR 3,000 with sound and light included. A DJ to close the night is EUR 850, or EUR 1,500 with its own sound and light production. A common full-evening combination is dinner jazz from a trio followed by a DJ for the late floor, which we quote as one transparent package. Final pricing depends on the lineup, the set length, the date and the venue, plus any travel beyond the Amsterdam radius. Send us your date, venue and headcount and we come back within one business day.
Jazz for a wedding in the Netherlands
For a wedding, jazz is usually the soundtrack to everything except the late dance floor. A vocalist or a duo plays the ceremony and the walk back down the aisle, a trio covers the drinks reception and the dinner, and then a band or a DJ takes the floor. Booking jazz for the front half of the day and a dance act for the back half is the most reliable wedding setup we sell, and it is almost always cheaper than asking one large band to cover the whole day. For the full wedding picture across the country see wedding band Netherlands.
Jazz for a corporate event
For a corporate dinner, awards evening or brand launch, jazz signals quality without shouting. A trio under a seated dinner lets the room network, then the bandleader lifts the energy as speeches finish. For a corporate floor afterwards we usually pair the jazz with a party band or a DJ. See corporate band Netherlands for the full corporate setup and ons artiestenbureau for the complete roster.
Common mistakes booking a jazz band
- Booking a full band for a dinner. A six-piece cannot play quietly under conversation, and a seated dinner wants a trio, not a big band turned down.
- Expecting a jazz band to fill a late dance floor. Jazz is for the front of the night. For the floor, book a party band or a DJ as well.
- Asking one act to do the whole day. A trio plus a DJ almost always sounds better and costs less than one band stretched across twelve hours.
- Booking late. The best jazz acts fill wedding and December gala season many months out.
- Ignoring the venue's acoustics. A hard stone room needs a different brief from a carpeted ballroom, and we set stage volume per room.
The booking process
- 1Send us your date, venue and headcount, and tell us which moments need music: ceremony, reception, dinner or floor
- 2We come back within one business day with the right jazz format for each moment, not the biggest lineup
- 3You review the acts on video and we confirm availability, travel and any pairing with a DJ or party band
- 4One coordinator runs the booking nationwide, one invoice, the bandleader works to your timeline on the day
