A DJ with a live trumpet and a live drummer, the festival sound as a live electronic act for your event.
A DJ with a live trumpet is a DJ set with real instruments played live on top, in our case a trumpet and a live drummer cutting across the track in the room. It is a live electronic act rather than a band, built for festival energy, and it gives a product launch, a corporate party or a high-energy reception a visual wow that a laptop alone cannot. On this page we show how the format works, who plays it for us, what it suits, what it costs and how the live trumpet layers over the house, Latin and club set.
The act we book for this is Drumpet Disco. It started with a simple idea: what if the DJ had a live trumpet player and a drummer on stage? The result is Latin house, Afrohouse, Balkan and Eurodance that moves wherever the room needs it to go, the same energy at a private event, a festival or a corporate gala. Lupa Entertainment is a boutique music agency in Amsterdam, founded in 2018 by Noam Bargil, a working bandleader. Over 300 events since 2018 for clients including Heineken, Microsoft, Salesforce and Booking.com, a fixed roster of 14 acts, one coordinator on the night. To go deeper on the act's repertoire and lineup, see our Drumpet Disco repertoire page, and for a plain DJ our DJ Amsterdam page.
How it works
What a DJ with a live trumpet actually is
The DJ runs the track and the build. The trumpet player improvises live phrases over the top, and a live drummer adds real percussion on top of the programmed beat, so the set has the punch of a live band with the drive of a club night. It is one act on one stage working the same track together, not a DJ and a band taking turns. Drumpet Disco is the act we book for this. The live trumpet and the live drummer over the DJ set are the thing the room watches, and the format reads as a festival act rather than a wedding band, which is exactly why it suits launches and high-energy parties.
For the warmer, more melodic version of the same idea, a saxophone over a DJ set, see our DJ with live saxophonist page. For the act's full setlist and lineup detail, see the Drumpet Disco repertoire page.
Which events suit a DJ with live trumpet
| Event type | Guest count | Why DJ + trumpet fits | Example venues |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product launch or brand activation | 100-2000 | A live trumpet and drummer over the DJ is the visual opening a playlist cannot give, festival theatre on cue | Westergasfabriek, Gashouder, Thuishaven, EYE Filmmuseum |
| Corporate party or year-end gala | 100-800 | High-energy live act that turns a seated room into a floor after the speeches | A'DAM Toren, Kantine25, Rijksmuseum |
| Festival-style private event | 100-1500 | Built for exactly this, the act people associate with main-stage energy | Thuishaven, Westergasfabriek, garden and outdoor stages |
| Wedding late-night floor | 80-400 | Picks up after the band or dinner and carries the late floor with a live edge | Westergasfabriek, Pulitzer rooftop, Kasteel de Haar |
Every booking includes a full sound system for your guest count and a basic dance-floor light show. For a larger production or an outdoor stage, we upgrade and list it as a separate line. For a live band earlier in the evening, many clients pair this with an act from our party band Amsterdam page.
How a DJ-and-trumpet set runs across the evening
This is a high-energy format, so it is usually placed where the night needs to peak rather than under a dinner:
- Opening or reveal, the trumpet and drums hit a loud, visual high point on cue, around 15 to 30 minutes
- Networking or dinner, the DJ holds a lighter set while the trumpet sits out or plays sparingly
- Party peak, the full act comes back, the trumpet and live drums drive the floor
- Late night, the DJ carries the room to 02:00 or 03:00 within the venue curfew
For a launch the most-booked shape is a high-impact opening, a networking set, then a short high-impact close. For a corporate party, the act takes the room from seated to dancing after the speeches. We coordinate the whole night through one contact.
Prices for a DJ with live trumpet
A pure DJ set in Amsterdam starts at EUR 850 with sound and basic lighting. A DJ with full production starts at EUR 1,500. A DJ with a live trumpet and live drummer sits above the plain DJ floor, because you are paying for the DJ plus two live performers and a larger setup, with the exact figure depending on the set length, the production and the venue. Saturdays between May and September and December corporate dates run higher than midweek.
Every quote is itemised: performance for the DJ, the trumpet player and the drummer, sound, lighting, transport within 50km of Amsterdam, BumaStemra (around 7 percent of the music budget), 9 percent VAT on the artistic performance and 21 percent VAT on technical. No hidden agency margin. Send your date, venue and guest count for a transparent quote within one business day.
Booking a DJ with live trumpet for a corporate event or launch
Corporate and launches are where this format earns its place, because it gives an event a live moment with stage presence without the footprint of a full band. For a product launch, the trumpet and drums hit a loud opening on cue, the reveal lands with real instruments behind it, then the act settles into a networking set and returns for a short high-impact close. For a year-end party, the act is the thing that moves a seated room onto the floor after the speeches. We have run this for client-facing nights and brand events since 2018. For the full corporate brief with a live band option, see our corporate band Netherlands page.
Common mistakes when booking a DJ with live trumpet
- Booking it as quiet dinner music. This is a high-energy act, place it where the night should peak, not under a seated dinner.
- Treating it as a DJ plus a separate band. It is one act, one quote, the trumpet and drums on the DJ's track, brief it that way.
- Ignoring the stage and power needs. The live drummer and the production need space and power, which we confirm with the venue ahead.
- Booking late. The best hybrid acts are full 6 to 9 months ahead for summer Saturdays and peak corporate dates.
The booking process
- 1Send us your date, venue, guest count and the moment you want the live trumpet to land
- 2Within one business day we send the DJ-and-trumpet options matched to your event, with live video
- 3A call with Noam to confirm the act, set length, stage and production needs
- 4Contract with named DJ, trumpet player and drummer, a named understudy and all line items
- 5Briefing two weeks ahead: the opening cue, must-play list, run of show, stage and power, venue curfew
