A wedding DJ in Amsterdam who carries the floor from the first dance to the last song.
A wedding DJ has a harder job than a club DJ. The crowd spans grandparents and friends, the room shifts from dinner to dancing, and the most important song of the night is one specific track that has to be exactly right. On this page we show how we book wedding DJs in Amsterdam: which DJs we recommend for which kind of wedding, how the music runs from ceremony to late-night floor, what it costs, and how the live-band-plus-DJ hybrid works for couples who want both.
Lupa Entertainment is a boutique music agency in Amsterdam, founded in 2018 by Noam Bargil, a working bandleader who has played weddings himself. Over 300 events since 2018, a fixed roster of 14 acts we have personally seen and briefed, one coordinator on the night. For couples weighing a band against a DJ, we also run a full wedding band Amsterdam page, and we often book both as one coordinated night.
How it works
Which wedding DJ fits which Amsterdam wedding
The right wedding DJ depends on guest count, the average age of the room, the mood you want and the venue rules. Below the DJs we book most for Amsterdam weddings, with what each one fits.
| Wedding type | Guest count | DJ we recommend | Why this one |
|---|---|---|---|
| Modern dance-floor wedding, crowd 25 to 45 | 80-250 | Demi Elisa (pop, indie, house) | Clean modern floor, reads a mixed couple's crowd, no extra instrument needed |
| Luxury or hotel wedding, premium feel | 60-300 | Golden Sax (DJ + live saxophone) | Saxophone over the DJ lifts a high-end room, strong for cocktail hour into the party |
| Festival-style or high-energy reception | 100-400 | Drumpet Disco (DJ + live trumpet + drums) | Live wow moment on the floor, festival energy for a younger crowd |
| Band first, DJ for the late night | 100-300 | Live band until 23:00, then Golden Sax or Demi Elisa | Best of both, the band carries the first dance, the DJ carries 02:00 |
Every booking includes a full sound system and a basic dance-floor light show. For ceremony and cocktail-hour music alongside the DJ, we coordinate the whole day through one contact, the same way we do on our wedding band Amsterdam page.
How the music runs across an Amsterdam wedding day
A wedding DJ rarely plays the whole day alone. The pattern we book most often layers live and DJ across the evening:
- Ceremony, an acoustic act or solo musician, around 45 minutes
- Cocktail hour, a saxophone-and-DJ set like Golden Sax or a light lounge set, around 90 minutes
- Dinner, background music kept under conversation level
- First dance and reception, the DJ opens with your specific track, then builds the floor
- Late night, the DJ carries the room to 02:00 or 03:00 within the venue curfew
For a 150-plus guest wedding, many couples add a live band until 23:00 and let the DJ take the late-night floor. We coordinate both acts as one crew with no gap in the music.
Prices for a wedding DJ in Amsterdam
A wedding DJ in Amsterdam starts at EUR 850 for a pure DJ set with sound and basic lighting. A DJ with full production starts at EUR 1,500, and a hybrid act with a live saxophone or trumpet sits between those depending on the lineup. If you add a live band before the DJ, the 4-piece band floor is EUR 3,000 with sound and lighting included, and each extra musician adds EUR 500. Summer Saturdays run higher than other dates.
Every quote is itemised: performance, sound, lighting, transport within 50km of Amsterdam, BumaStemra (around 7 percent of the music budget), 9 percent VAT on the artistic performance and 21 percent VAT on technical. The first dance arrangement is part of the brief, not a surprise line. Send your date and venue for a transparent quote within one business day.
Booking a wedding DJ for an international wedding in Amsterdam
Amsterdam weddings are increasingly mixed Dutch and international. Our DJs and MCs handle announcements in both Dutch and English, from the grand entrance to the first dance to the late-night floor. We brief the DJ on the names, the running order and the must-play and do-not-play list two weeks ahead, so the night belongs to you, not the DJ's default set. For couples who want a live act for the ceremony and a DJ for the party, see our best DJ Amsterdam shortlist and our wedding band page, and we build the whole evening as one booking.
Common mistakes when booking a wedding DJ in Amsterdam
- Leaving the first dance to chance. Send the exact track and version early so the DJ has the right edit ready.
- Booking late. The best wedding DJs are full 6 to 9 months ahead for summer Saturdays, sometimes 9 to 12 for peak dates.
- No must-play and do-not-play list. Without it the DJ plays their taste, not your wedding.
- Ignoring the venue curfew. Conservatorium Hotel ends at 01:00, Westergasfabriek runs later, and that decides whether you need a late DJ or a hybrid.
The booking process
- 1Send us your wedding date, venue, guest count and the feeling you want for each part of the day
- 2Within one business day we send 2 to 3 DJ options matched to your wedding, with live video
- 3A call with Noam to confirm the DJ and decide on band-plus-DJ hybrid or DJ only
- 4Contract with named DJ, named understudy, first dance arrangement and all line items
- 5Pre-wedding briefing two weeks ahead: first dance, must-plays, do-not-plays, run of show, venue curfew
