When a German booker searches for a Band Firmenfeier they almost always mean a party band with a singer and a rhythm section. When they search for a DJ Firmenfeier they mean one act that runs to the end without a break. Both are right. They just solve different evenings. Lineup drives stage footprint, volume and fee, so here are the numbers in the open.

Band Firmenfeier: which lineup for which room

Every musician above the four-piece base is EUR 500. A band normally plays two sets of 45 to 60 minutes, and a DJ covers the gap through the same rig so the room does not cool off.

DJ Firmenfeier: when a DJ is the smarter first booking

A DJ covers the whole night without a break, from EUR 850, or from EUR 1,500 with its own PA and dance-floor light. For a celebration with mixed age groups that is often the safer first booking: a DJ reads the room in real time and moves from Motown to current chart records the moment the floor starts to thin. • 21:00 peak hour: party band, two sets, DJ in between.
• 23:00 late stretch: DJ to close, light switched to dance-floor mode.
• 01:00 load-out: our crew clears, you go home.

What we need from you is short: date, venue, headcount, the time of the speeches and the room's volume rule. What procurement and HR get from us in writing

A corporate event is rarely booked by someone who does this for a living. It lands with an office manager, with HR, or with the assistant to the management board, and nobody there wants to be the person who put the budget into a bad call. So the following is in the quote without anyone asking:

• A business invoice with VAT stated separately, against a purchase order number or a cost centre, on your payment terms. For an event in the Netherlands we itemise BumaStemra and Dutch BTW separately, 9 percent on the artistic performance and 21 percent on technical services, so finance can check the quote line by line.
• The musicians are named in the contract. A band name on its own tells you nothing about who walks onto that stage.
• A replacement from the same lineup in case of illness. Our stand-ins know the repertoire and the arrangements, so you solve nothing on the day itself.
• Our own sound and light, set to the venue's dB limit. No second technical supplier, and the director's address runs through the same rig as the band.
• One name and one number. Whoever answers your first email is reachable on the night. Usually that is Noam.

Common mistakes booking music for a Firmenfeier
